I wrote this for the Montessori español clase, but it can be useful for anybody since we are doing español study outside of Farm Days.

Feliz otoño nuevo, clase!

hoy es viernes, el 21 de septiembre del 2018. Está nublado y el gallo canta <<quiri quiri>>, 7 a.m.

Gracias por la clase ayer. I felt great about our brainstorms (thank you for updating Joy on them) and shared documents. This is my first time using Google Classroom, so let's shape our model constructively together. It may empower our experiential learning to self- and global-actualization: Peace through Educational Harmony. Maria would have wanted it that way if she were around in the time of Instagram, Pinterest, and collaborative authoring, don't you think?

<<Ideas para Finca>> list due Friday 9/21/18 by 3 p.m. - list what you're excited about and ideas for español
Note: Only the first list item is due today. You are WELCOME to continue adding to this document as thoughts develop.

***Please preserve the authenticity and integrity of all our shared work. We turn to guidelines for this form of democracy:

When we hold a Socratic Seminar, the group functions because it agrees to:
1. Only one person must talk at a time (a moot point on computers, but there's harmony is spaciousness)
2. All comments must be relevant (extra important on computers)
3. Everybody must be polite (also extra important)

Because of the lack of context on a comment thread, abstract humor can be lost in ambiguity. For best results, post poignantly and prolifically. ◡̈ Y en español!

During times that you don't have a diccionario around, you may use Google translate, but ONLY for (usually) ONE word at a time. The reason for this is that when the computer starts translating for you, it spits out grammar and nuances that may skip some steps in your lessons, and it can do more detriment than benefit. For best results, search one word at a time, and include the article. For more information, see Translating Tips in a write-up to come.

Your work for these coming weeks will focus on allowing yourself to immerse in español a little bit. If you have reservations, acknowledge them and let them go. There is nothing but to be gained. You may listen to música en español and add your favorite artists to the ideas page. You may come across your favorite novel at the library...en español. You may find yourself overhearing a conversation en español and note a few words you recognized. Enjoy every minute of growing new dendrites while you're learning, and jot it down in your cuaderno.

Su cuaderno es su mejor amigo para aprender una idioma. (Your notebook is your best friend in learning a language.)

Keep it with you for each Finca Educativa (Educational Farm) visit and each (clase). The Finca is for inmersión practice of the Spanish language in applied, experiential learning, as prescribed by Dr. Maria herself. During the classroom time, we will spend a lot of our time in studying grammatical concepts, building vocabulary lists based on the world around you, and enjoying the culture of learning.

On that, enjoy the exploration of español, your place as a steward of this Earth, and reviewing verb conjugations. ◡̈

Que tenga buen fin de semana!
